Hair Loss Treatment with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Get Thicker, Stronger, Great Looking Hair without Surgery Naturally!

Restore & grow new hair with your own (autologous) Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Hair Restoration?

PRP involves your own blood plasma and your own platelets. PRP is derived from a small sample of your own blood that is spun down using a centrifuge to separate the red blood cell component from the plasma, which is rich in platelets, growth factors and signaling proteins.

To understand how PRP promotes hair regrowth requires understanding of the "hair growth cycle".

All hair cycles between a growing (i.e. Anagen) phase and a resting / dormant (i.e. Telogen) phase. Hair grows 1/2 to 1 inch per month for several years or more on average during the Anagen Phase; and then, transitions over a period of 10-14 days during the Catagen Phase to a resting Telogen Phase, whereby the hair falls out, but the hair bulb remains intact, yet inactive for a period of several months; followed by hair regrowth and repetition of the "hair cycle" again.

Hair loss, hair thinning and problems with hair growth (collectively, also called alopecia) are due to a disturbance in this normal hair cycle.  Causes include metabolic imbalances, diseases, nutritional deficiencies, stress and genetic male-pattern and female-pattern alopecia.

Growth factors and signaling proteins concentrated in your own PRP may promote hair growth by stimulating dormant / telogen hair follicles to become active, anagen hairs and / or prolonging the anagen phase on average.

PRP is injected subdermally into the thinning areas of hair loss at the level of the hair follicle.  PRP readily diffuses across the subdermal layer signaling the affected hair bulbs.

PRP is performed at 4-6 week intervals for 3-6 sessions, followed by periodic maintenance treatments.

Anyone with scalp alopecia is a potential candidate for PRP hair restoration.  Treatment options depend upon the nature, extent and cause of your alopecia; and PRP may be recommended as a primary or adjunct treatment.

Contraindications to PRP are uncommon and relative and include any significantly active scalp infection or inflammatory condition and / or condition or state that may cause extensive bleeding or bruising.

To prepare for your PRP session, avoid any blood thinning medications for five (5) to seven (7) before treatment and wash / shampoo your scalp or other area(s) to be treated the night before or morning of the procedure.

After PRP, avoid any topicals for 24 hours and hair dye for at least 48 hours.  You may shampoo and shower as usual.

70-90% of patients will notice results by 4-6 months.
