Dr. Fowler began her education at the University of St. Thomas, in Houston, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. She obtained her medical degree (MD) from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. Dr. Fowler continued her postgraduate education with a general surgery internship and completed a dermatology residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
During medical school, Dr. Fowler was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society and served as chief resident during her final year of dermatology residency.
