Medical Expertise of Dr. Micah Olson, MD

Dr. Micah Olson, MD, is the Valley’s trusted hormone expert. Dr. Olson founded Valley Healthspan, a Preventative/Functional Age Management practice, in 2024. The goal of his practice is to use a personalized, “n of one” approach to treat and prevent chronic diseases, with the ultimate goal of helping patients maintain their physical and cognitive ability, quality of life, and vitality as they age. Dr. Olson is dedicated to finding the root cause of chronic illnesses through the use of advanced diagnostics, including metabolic and hormone testing, body composition analysis, continuous glucose meters, VO2 max fitness testing, and cognitive and sleep testing. He then spends time with patients formulating a comprehensive plan including nutritional and fitness/exercise counseling, and, if indicated, nutraceuticals, bioidentical hormone optimization and a weight management program or medication.

About Dr. Micah Olson, MD

Dr. Olson’s journey into Age Management Programs and Medicine was sparked by his mother, Cory Olson, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in her early 60’s and eventually passed away at the age of 70. Through this journey she was discovered to have two copies of the APOE4 gene, a gene that is famous for its connection with Alzheimer’s disease. Knowing that his own genetic risk was higher, Dr. Olson became immersed in the science of Alzheimer’s prevention. Prevention was still a taboo word in the Alzheimer’s world not too long ago, but increasingly it is recognized that there are lifestyle habits and medical therapies that can have a substantial impact on reducing risk. Not only are there steps we can take to maintain cognitive function as we age, but the scientific community has made emerging discoveries in the area of optimizing physical function, vitality, and quality of life as well.

Dr. Olson directed the Obesity Program at Phoenix Children’s for 12 years and developed a reputation as a national expert in the management of pediatric obesity and endocrine disorders. He is board-certified in Obesity Medicine, and is regularly featured in Phoenix Magazine’s annual list of “Top Docs”. He has received multiple NIH-funded research grants, has co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications, and continues his research work as an Adjunct Professor in the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Arizona State University.
