Dr. Lobatz specializes in the the treatment and rehabilitation of brain injury, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease. He has also participated in numerous medical research trials, including acute stroke intervention, epilepsy, brain injury, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions.

About Dr. Michael Lobatz, MD

Michael Lobatz, MD is a board-certified neurologist providing care to patients in the San Diego area at the Neurology Center of Southern California.

Dr. Lobatz serves as Medical Director of the Rehabilitation Center at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas and senior partner in The Neurology Center.

He remains active in academics and serves on the clinical core faculty at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and Scripps Clinic Internal Medicine residency programs.

He also serves as a member of various boards and foundations including the Scientific and Medical advisory board of the Alzheimer Association and is a member of the board of directors of the Head North Foundation and Rancho Santa Fe Foundation.

Dr. Michael A. Lobatz is a graduate of the Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago  and then completed his internship and neurology residency at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) where he also served as chief resident during his senior year.

The Neurology Center provides diagnostic treatment services for patients with disorders of the nervous system. Our neurologists are affiliated with Scripps Hospital in Encinitas and La Jolla, Tri City Medical Center in Oceanside, Palomar Medical Center in Escondido and Pomerado Hospital in Poway. Many of our neurologists have appointments to the volunteer faculty at UCSD, and are actively involved with the neurology training program there.
