He graduated from Boston University with a BFA prior to getting his medical degree (MD) from the University of Massachusetts in Worcester and completing his pediatric residency training at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco.

He then completed his neurology and child neurology training at the Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA.
