Medical Expertise of Dr. Tania Rivera, MD

Dr. Rivera specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of different forms of arthritis, Behcet’s disease, gout, lupus, fibromyalgia, Sjgoren’s Syndrome, and complex autoimmune conditions.

Dr. Rivera has in-depth experience treating osteoporosis, having worked at the the Osteoporosis Center in Princeton, NJ and been active in clinical research that assisted in the development of new osteoporosis treatments. She is certified by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry.to interpret bone densitometry tests.

She received additional training in the management of lupus, having worked for year in the Research Registry for Neonatal Lupus.During her fellowship training she continued to work in research studies focusing on the treatment of lupus nephritis, and lupus and pregnancy.

Tania Rivera, MD is a board-certified rheumatologist providing care to patients in the San Diego area at the Rheumatology Center of San Diego.

Dr. Rivera volunteers at UCSD student-run free clinic which provides accessible, quality healthcare for the underserved and works as a Per Diem at a community clinic, Family Health Centers of San Diego. She also participates in Project Access which helps uninsured patients get access to specialists.

Dr. Rivera is affiliated with Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla and Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.
