Dr. Bluavelt is recognized an internationally psoriasis expert. He truly loves to help people with psoriasis, including teaching them how to best manage their skin condition. He years of experience include medical research into the basics of psoriasis and the development of new psoriasis treatments.

Dr. Blauvelt provides consultations and ongoing care for people with psoriasis and other complex medical skin conditions.
 

About Dr. Andrew Blauvelt, MD

Dr. Andrew Blauvelt, MD is a board-certified dermatologist providing care to patients in the Portland metropolitan area at Baker and Allergy Dermatology.

Dr. Blauvelt has published over 160 medical articles published in medical journals and and is invited to speak about psoriasis,  nationallly and internationally. Dr. Blauvelt has served as Principal Investigator (PI) on numerous psoriasis clinical trials, is a key scientific advisor to biotechnology companies developing new psoriasis treatments.

Dr. Blauvel has served for many years as a member of Medical Advisory Board of the National Psoriasis Foundation and was elected to be member of the International Psoriasis Council, the premier group of psoriasis experts in the world.

Dr. Blauvelt has had three major phases of his career. He was first a tenured Senior Investigator at the NIH for eight years, where he became well known for his pioneering work on HIV and Langerhans cells as well as for his studies into how human herpesviruses cause Kaposi's sarcoma and pityriasis rosea. In the second phase of his medical career, he became Professor of Dermatology at OHSU and Chief of Dermatology at the VA Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. There he began to study psoriasis in depth, and his lab contributed to our understanding of how IL-23 and Th17 cells are key components in psoriasis pathogenesis. While at OHSU, he also organized a multidisciplinary center for care of complicated psoriasis patients and began participating in pivotal psoriasis clinical trials. Beginning in the fall of 2011, Dr. Blauvelt transitioned to independent clinical research, becoming President and Owner of the Oregon Medical Research Center.
