JAK Inhibitors

Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors are another type of disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). People who cannot be treated with methotrexate alone may be prescribed a JAK inhibitor.

This class of medications work by blocking molecules called “Janus kinases,” which are important signals in the development of joint inflammation that occurs with RA.

Unilke biologics, JAK Inhibitors can be taken by mouth.
