Medical Expertise of Dr. J. Stephen McLendon, MD
Dr. J. Stephen McLendon is a board-certified internist providing care to adults in the Albany, GA area for a wide range of medical conditions.
“My approach to medicine is that I treat my patients as I would treat my family and would want to be treated myself. This approach was shaped by the example that my father set as he practiced Orthopedic Surgery in Albany, GA and also by the Christian values instilled in me by my parents and my church family.”
About Dr. J. Stephen McLendon, MD
Like his father before him, Dr. Stephen McLendon views the practice of medicine as more than a profession. “My father and I felt called to go into medicine,” he explained. Without the example of his father, however, he might have chosen another calling … one that ministers to souls instead of bodies. “I probably would have been a preacher.” As a physician, he enjoys getting to know his patients and their families.

Tips & Wisdom
Lung function tests (also called pulmonary function tests, or PFTs) evaluate how well your lungs work. The tests determine how much air your lungs can hold, how quickly you can move air in and out of your lungs, and how well your lungs put oxygen into and remove carbon dioxide from your blood. The tests can diagnose lung diseases, measure the severity of lung problems, and check to see how well treatment for a lung disease is working.

Albany Internal Medicine

Over the years, Albany Internal Medicine has become known as one of the area’s premier providers of high-quality medical care as demonstrated by its prestigious recognition as a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
We are located in northwest Albany, making our practice closer and more convenient to our patient base. It’s why our staff expands its knowledge through continuing education courses, seminars, and workshops. Our commitment to improvement is behind our drive to secure the latest technology and to keep up with healthcare trends.
In fact, we have implemented an office-wide electronic medical records system (paperless) to better care for our patients. Our new “patient portal” allows our patients to link to us via the world wide web to request an appointment, ask a nurse a question, receive secure email test results, or pay their bills. Being accessible to our patients is one of our main objectives. When our office is closed, the physician on call can be reached by phoning our main office number.
AIM’s doctors rotate the responsibility of being on-call for after-hour emergencies. When one of our patients has an emergency and our office is closed, the doctor on call will make sure the patient is taken care of.
The old-fashioned bond of respect and trust between physician and patient remains alive and well at AIM.
