Dr. Yan, who was born and raised in China, attended Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in Jiangsu Sheng, China, before moving to the United States. She then earned her graduate degree in human nutrition at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and completed her residency in pediatrics and a fellowship program in allergy and immunology, both at State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York.
