About Dr. Brummitte Wilson, MD
Founded our practice in 1981. Since that time, many things have changed. We are now one of the regions largest dermatology groups, providing high quality care in a professional, comforting environment. Dr. Wilson's vision has provided our patients with the full scope of dermatologic care, from the adolescent teenager with Acne, to the 80 year old patient being cured of malignant skin cancer through Mohs Micrographic Surgery, to the 55 year old female seeking facial wrinkle reduction with Laser Resurfacing. Over the last 15+ years Dr. Wilson has developed skills in the use of most laser systems such as our Fractional Laser for Resurfacing of Wrinkles and Scars, or CO2 laser (for excisions, and Laser Resurfacing), the Pulsed Dye laser (to treat vascular lesions), as well as nd:YAGs, Alexandrites, and Ruby lasers (for pigmented lesions) and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices like out Palomar StarLux IPL for Permanent Hair Reduction, Photofacials, and treatment of Pigmented and Vascular lesions.
He has also been extensively involved in the research of Photodynamic Therapy, an exciting method of treating extensive cancers with the use of a laser and a light enhancing drug which targets the destruction of cancerous cells, minimizing the damage to non-cancerous surrounding tissue. During residency, Dr. Wilson was trained in Chemical Peels, Dermabrasion, and Hair Transplantation. Further he has spent several years enhancing his cosmetic surgery techniques, spending time with some of the top specialists in Tumescent Liposuction.
Dr. Wilson is a well published Board Certified Dermatologist with advanced skills in Dermatologic Oncology, Immunology, Dermatologic Surgery, and Laser Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He is also a member of the New York State Society for Dermatology, the Buffalo/Rochester Dermatological Society, and the Western New York Dermatological Society. Additionally, Dr. Wilson is an Associate Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and a member of the American Society of Liposuction Surgery. He is is a Clinical Associate Professor at SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and SUNY at Buffalo School of Dentistry. He also served many years as a Clinician at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York and is a past Consultant there.
Dr. Wilson has been an active member of our community on a local, state and national level. He has served on the Board of Director's for such important community organizations as the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Arts Council in Buffalo & Erie County, Buffalo Fine Arts Acacemy (Albright Knox Art Gallery) and Studio Arena Theatre. He also served 3 terms on the Board of Trustees at Canisius College, where he was inducted into the DiGamma Honor Society in 1992 for his "generous commitment of time, talent, and foresight" and awarded the LaSalle Medal for "exceptional contributions to society and many services to Canisius College" in 1995. On a state level, Dr. Wilson served on the New York State Board for Professional Medical Conduct from 1992-2000. He also served as president of the New York State Society for Dermatology from 1993-95, and remains as an Ad-Hoc on the Board of Directors. Nationally, Dr. Wilson was also on the Board of the National Skin Cancer Foundation, as well as serving on New York's Medicare Advisory Committee for 2 years.
