Education & Training
Dr. Filomena Scola was born in Philadelphia, PA and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Art History (a double major) from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, graduating with High Honors. Dr. Scola conducted research in microbiology and immunology prior to attending medical school. Her undergraduate background was the basis of Dr. Scola bringing a keen eye of the aesthetic and extensive scientific knowledge to the art and science of medicine.
Dr. Scola then attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) where she graduated at the top of her class. She then completed a medical internship where she was named “Intern of the Year” among a class of over one hundred interns across four hospital systems.
Following her medical internship, Dr. Filomena Scola became a resident in Dermatology at PCOM where she served as Chief Resident. As Chief Resident, Dr. Scola established the first meeting of the Philadelphia Dermatological Society, one of the nation’s premier local dermatology societies, to be hosted by PCOM. This led to PCOM becoming a member institution of the Society.
Dr. Filomena Scola has published numerous articles in science, medical and dermatology journals and has been a speaker at local and national dermatology conferences.
