Dr. Michael E. Contreras, M.D., FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist with diverse clinical interests including general medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology as well as clinical dermatology research.
About Dr. Michael Contreras, MD
Following his training, Dr. Contreras worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico Department of Dermatology for two years and then delivered dermatology care in private practice in Albuquerque for two years prior to joining AboutSkin. Dr. Contreras also lectures dermatology residents and was responsible for introducing cosmetic procedural training to the dermatology residency program.
Dr. Contreras is a certified injector of Botox® and Juvederm® and has extensive experience and training in cosmetic procedures including Botox®, fillers, chemical peels, and laser therapy.

Education & Training
Dr. Contreras received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California (USC) in biomedical and electrical engineering and graduated summa cum laude. He returned to Albuquerque for medical school at the University of New Mexico and graduated in 2001 as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society (AOA) and received the Faculty Award for Excellence. Dr. Contreras completed his dermatology residency training at the University of New Mexico in 2005.
