About Dr. Philip Werschler, MD

Wm. Philip Werschler, MD, is the founding member of Spokane Dermatology Clinic and Werschler Aesthetics. Previously, Dr. Werschler founded both Aesthetics Skin Care and the Aesthetic Image Medical Spa. Dr. Werschler received his medical degree, with distinction, from George Washington University Medical Center, Washington, D.C. After graduation, Dr. Werschler was invited to the University of Arizona, where he completed his preliminary residency training in internal medicine. He was then was asked to return to George Washington University where he completed his Dermatology fellowship. During his time in Washington, D.C., Dr. Werschler was selected to attend dermatology clinical consultations at the prestigious National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. Dr. Werschler has been an active teaching member of the University of Washington faculty for over 20 years, where he serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Medicine/Dermatology. He has previously served as a Clinical Instructor in Dermatology at the George Washington University, School of Medicine, Washington, D.C. He is affiliated with several professional societies, including a full fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society for Dermatological Surgery, and the American Society for Mohs Surgery. Dr. Werschler is also a founding member and twice past President of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery as well as a past President of the Washington State Dermatology Association and the Spokane County Medical Society. Dr. Werschler has also completed the Physician Entrepreneurship program offered by the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University and the AMA.

Drawing from his extensive clinical experience, Dr. Werschler has contributed to numerous studies, lectures, and publications in the field of Dermatology. A prolific writer, he is also on the editorial boards of several scholarly journals; including The Dermatologist, Cutis, Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, and Pathways to Clinical Practice. Dr.Werschler is the founding aesthetic editor of the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, a PubMed listed journal that is widely regarded as one of the most influential and authoritative medical journals in dermatology. Additionally, Dr. Werschler is the Editor-in-Chief of Cosmetic Dermatology, the specialty’s original journal for cosmetic and aesthetic dermatology.

Dr. Werschler is an internationally recognized expert in both medical and cosmetic dermatology/aesthetic surgery. It is in this capacity, he has been honored to serve as a FDA investigator for clinical trials throughout his career. Today, nearly all of the FDA approved aesthetic injectable dermal fillers and toxins were tested in his research center, Premier Clinical Research, in Spokane WA. Dr. Werschler is especially proud of his selection as one of the original Botox FDA investigators, where the pivotal clinical trial for FDA approval of Botox Cosmetic was performed in his office.
