About Dr. Robert Jetton, MD
Dr. Jetton, a native Kentuckian, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, mathematics, and physics from Murray State University in 1960 followed by a Master of Arts degree in chemistry from Vanderbilt University in 1961. He graduated from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1965 where he was elected to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary medical society. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University Hospital in 1966 after which he served as a resident physician in dermatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During his final year, he was Chief Resident in dermatology. The following two years were spent as the Chief of Dermatology at the naval hospital at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
From 1971 to 1973, Dr. Jetton was co-director of the dermatology residency program at the University of Louisville Medical School during which time he also had a part-time private practice of dermatology. Dr. Jetton opened a private practice of dermatology in Greenville, South Carolina, in 1973, retiring in 2001, when Dr. Matthew L. Miller took over the practice. A few years later, he returned to join Dr. Miller’s practice on a part-time basis.
Dr. Jetton was certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1970 and by the American Board of Dermatopathology in 1982. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and several other medical organizations. He has served as president of the South Carolina Dermatology Association and the Piedmont Dermatological Society. He has authored 20 chemistry and medical publications. Over the years, he has been active in the community, serving on several boards and committees for local and civic organizations. He was the founder of Dermatology Night at the Greenville Free Medical Center where he volunteered for several years.
