Dr. Scott Fretzin is a board-certified dermatologist providing care to patients in the Indianapolis area at Dawes Fretzin Dermatology.
In 2004, the doctors opened Dawes/Fretzin Clinical Research Group and have since participated in numerous clinical studies. They have researched new medications for skin diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, skin cancer, and acne. They have also investigated new agents for non-dermatologic conditions such as diabetes.

Dr. Fretzin received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis with a major in Philosophy.
He then received his medical degree (MD) the University of Chicago where he also completed his medical internship. He then came to Indianapolis for his Dermatology Residency training at Indiana University School of Medicine (1994-1997) and became board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1997.
During his dermatology residency Dr. Fretzin developed a specialty interest in the management of sexually transmitted diseases and still staffs a county STD clinic one day a week.
He then received his medical degree (MD) the University of Chicago where he also completed his medical internship. He then came to Indianapolis for his Dermatology Residency training at Indiana University School of Medicine (1994-1997) and became board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1997.
During his dermatology residency Dr. Fretzin developed a specialty interest in the management of sexually transmitted diseases and still staffs a county STD clinic one day a week.

Kenneth Dawes, MD, established our practice in 1995; he partnered with Scott Fretzin, MD, forming Dawes Fretzin Dermatology Group in 1997. In 2007 we welcomed Christy Nebesio, MD and Priya Young, MD. We were thrilled when Mary Spolyar, MD joined us in 2009 and Ann-Marie Hyatt, MD in August 2012. In 2014 Nicholas Countryman, MD, a Mohs surgeon entered our practice to further expand the services we provide our patients. Later that year we happily added Kathryn Shrift, MD, to our staff as well. In 2019 we welcomed Kate Oberlin, MD to our office.
