Dr. Amir was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Linwood, New Jersey. Dr. Amir attended Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in neuroscience and behavior. She then remained in New York to attend medical school at Mount Sinai Hospital.
During medical school, Dr. Amir participated in a dedicated year of dermatology research, where she helped run clinical trials for new medications for psoriasis and atopic dermatitis and authored several publications. After medical school, she completed her dermatology residency training at Mount Sinai, and was chief resident in her final year.
