About Peggy Vernon, NP
Peggy Vernon is a Board-certified Nurse Practitioner. She received her Nurse Practitioner education at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, graduating in 1983. She received a Masters of Arts in Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado in 1990, and a post-masters certificate as a Dermatology Nurse Practitioner from Regis University in 2000.
She treats all skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, and warts, and is sensitive to the psychological aspect of skin disorders. She educates patients about skin cancer screening and prevention, and performs skin exams, biopsies, and excisional surgeries on patients of all ages. She has a special interest in pediatric dermatology and psoriasis, and is recognized as a national speaker on these topics.
Peggy is well published in the Journal of Pediatric Health, The Nurse Practitioner, and Advance for Nurse Practitioners, as well as text books for nurse practitioners. She is a preceptor for nurse practitioner students at Regis University and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She is a member of the American Nursesí Association, the Dermatology Nursesí Association, The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and the Colorado Society for Advanced Practice Nurses. She was the 2009 recipient of The Excellence in Nursing Award from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and has received numerous state awards in nursing. Peggy is a Colorado native and spends her spare time enjoying Grand Lake, Colorado with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
