Dr. Merrill graduated magna cum laude from Georgia Southern University, and completed medical school near the top of his class at Mercer University School of Medicine, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society.

He then pursued additional training at the University of Missouri where he completed an American College of Mohs Surgery accredited fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology.
