About Dr. Jay Gottlieb, DO

 Dr. Jay S. Gottlieb is the founder of Miramar Dermatology, which is located in Miramar Florida . Dr. Gottlieb is board certified in Dermatology, Facial Plastic Surgery, Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. He has been a practicing surgeon in south Florida since 1982.  Dr. Gottlieb oversees the various facets of practice at Miramar Dermatology. He has earned a national and international reputation for providing patients with leading edge technological advances and has expertise in all facets of dermatology and aesthetic care. He has structured Miramar Dermatology to be a state-of-the-art source where patients can find a combination of medical and surgical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, aesthetic services and research endeavors in a clinical practice setting.

Dr. Gottlieb completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Michigan in 1977 in Ann Arbor , MI . He obtained his medical degree from the University of Allied Health Sciences in Des Moines , IA in 1977. He performed an internship at Oakland General Hospital in Madison Heights , MI . He then completed a residency in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills , MI in 1982. Dr. Gottlieb completed a residency in Dermatology at Nova Southeastern University/North Broward Hospital District in the year 2000. He spent time training at Massachusetts General Hospital under the leadership of Richard Webster, MD, a world renowned expert in plastic surgery, who prepared Dr. Gottlieb for the exciting work which lay ahead in his field of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and dermatology. Dr. Gottlieb is the founding and current chief editor of the Journal of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology.

Dr. Gottlieb also oversees the Medi Spa at Miramar Dermatology. Here patients receive more advanced levels of treatment than they would find in a normal day spa and offers one-stop convenience for all their skin care needs.

Dr. Gottlieb has served as assistant clinical professor in the department of surgery at Nova Southeastern University-Health Professions Division since 1982 and regularly teaches medical students, interns and dermatology residents in the clinic setting. Dr. Gottlieb is part of numerous medical and dermatologic specialist groups, including the American Academy of Dermatology, The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, The American Osteopathic College of Dermatology and The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr Gottlieb has been active in serving the Broward and Dade community since his arrival in 1982. He has been married to Shirley since 1973 and they have two children, Lori, who has a master's degree as a registered dietician/nutritionist and practices in New York and Amy, who has her master's degree in medical science and is a board certified physician assistant and practices with her father at Miramar Dermatology.
