She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Burks was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society in both her undergraduate and graduate degree programs. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners.
