Dr. Anna Falabella, MD is a board-certified dermatologist providing care to patients in the Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Miramar and Doral area of Florida at Hollywood Dermatology & Cosmetic Specialists.
She is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and the American Academy of Wound Management.
Dr. Falabella also serves as Voluntary Associate Professor of Dermatology & Dermatological Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine.
In 1998, Dr. Falabella joined the faculty of the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Within a matter of months, she achieved international recognition for her work in wound healing, becoming the first physician in the world to transplant bioengineered skin onto the wounds of an infant born with epidermolysis bullosa. This novel therapy changed the paradigm for treating this incurable disease.
She has served as a principal investigator or co-investigator in more than 40 research trials and has authored or co-authored more than 60 articles, book chapters and abstracts. She is co-editor of Wound Healing, the first textbook ever published that focuses on this critical area within dermatology. She has been invited to give lectures at national meetings and world dermatologic congresses. She has received a number of prestigious awards including the Young Investigators Award from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). In 2002, she was one of 80 physicians who was named by the AAD as a Future Leader in Dermatology, and in 2003 the American Biographical Institute selected her as one of 2,000 Notable American Women.
