About Dr. Eshan Azimi, MD

Ehsan Azimi, M.D. is a Board Certified Dermatologist providing care at El Segundo Dermatology. 

Dr. Azimi is the recipient of grants and awards from National Eczema Association and Society of Investigative Dermatology among others. He has published over 40 abstracts, book chapters and articles in prestigious journals such as Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Nature Communications, and Nature Reviews. He is the reviewer for multiple journals including Journal of Investigative Dermatology (ranked first in the field of dermatology), Cell, and Lasers in surgery and medicine.

As a physician scientist, Dr. Azimi has a deep understanding of a wide variety of dermatologic diseases. He is passionate about all aspects of dermatology, from screening for skin cancers, to common conditions such as acne to rare and complex medical dermatology. Trained at Massachusetts General Hospital where many of the lasers and aesthetic procedures were invented, Dr. Azimi is an expert in performing cosmetic procedures, laser and light treatments, injectables, and body contouring. He received specific training in hair loss at Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women’s Hospitals. Dr. Azimi was part of Mass General’s Project Phoenix that was devoted to laser tattoo removal for high-risk youth to help them leave their past behind and get a second chance at life. He also received extensive training at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston’s Children Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Education & Training

Dr. Azimi is a graduate of the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Program. Prior to residency, he completed a research fellowship at the Cutaneous Biology Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. During this time, he described the mechanism underlying one of the most common drug reactions known as “red man syndrome”. He also identified the first antagonists of a novel class of receptors involved in itch and inflammatory skin disease and is the inventor on two US patents.
