About Dr. Michael Tjoelker, MD

In Dermatology, the treatment of some conditions - such as skin cancer – there might be only one appropriate treatment option. However, for many other less-severe skin conditions, the type of treatment selected depends significantly on patient preference. It’s important to review treatment options with patients so that they can select the option that fits in best their needs and lifestyles. In conjunction with this, it is important to keep up with ongoing medical advances in skin care. Therefore, maintaining a high level of continuing medical education is very important to me. With 30 years of experience as a dermatologist, I continue to see patients of all ages that have a large variety of very different skin conditions. These vary from skin cancer to skin wrinkles, common diseases such as acne or rosacea, or much less-common problems such as Lyme disease. This ongoing variety of patient types, diagnoses and treatment options is always stimulating. I also like the specialty of Dermatology because the beneficial treatment results are usually very visible to both the patient and the physician, which is gratifying to both. Agnesian HealthCare provides a warm community environment that demonstrates genuine concern for their patients as people. There is pleasant working environment and a family feel to the organization that is shared by its providers and associates.
